Join Us in Cambridge October 15, 2026THE NIGHT
Cambridge in October,
the way she wrote it.
A group of us will have dinner, just a few streets from where she set it — and every guest goes home with a signed copy, pressed into your hands by Alice herself. One night. One long table. Half an hour of Alice, unscripted, and then the floor is yours.
Her new novel arrives September 8th. Three days later, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman return as the Owens sisters in PRACTICAL MAGIC 2, adapted from her novel THE BOOK OF MAGIC. She has been writing about New England witches for thirty years, and this autumn belongs to her. This is the closest you will get to the room they came from.
New England has always kept its witches close.
An Enchanting Event
Thursday,
from afternoon into evening
Where we begin
We meet in the back room with coffee, tea, and something sweet. Alice's world, laid out: the real Radcliffe of 1954, the real societies, the real disappearances. An hour of context and personalized Permanent Jewelry from Sparkling Alchemy, to create your own amulet before the evening properly begins.
4.30 - Down Massachusetts Avenue
A short walk to Harvard Book Store
Ten minutes on foot to one of the great independent bookshops in America, to browse the shelves that shaped her. October air, the whole square lit up.
5.00 - Cocktails, photographs, and signing
Lovestruck Books — Alice's choice for Cocktail Hour
An hour back at Lovestruck with Alice in the room. Drinks among the bookshelves, photographs, and Alice signing your copy of The Witches of Cambridge while you talk with her.
6.00 - Dinner, and half an hour with Alice
A private room in Harvard Square
One long table. Alice sits with us, not at the front of the room. Then, over dessert, in conversation with Juliana Fraioli Wilson: on witches and McCarthy, on Radcliffe, on thirty years of Practical Magic and why the Owens women refuse to leave her alone. Then the floor opens and you ask her yourself.
Final timing and exact locations shared with confirmed guests.

GUEST OF HONOR
Alice Hoffman
Alice Hoffman has written more than thirty works of fiction. Practical Magic made her a household name in 1995 and again on screen in 1998, and the Owens family has since grown into four novels read by people who talk about them like family history.
Her work moves between the fantastical and the historical without apology, Salem in Magic Lessons, Masada in The Dovekeepers, occupied Europe in The World That We Knew, Anne Frank's Amsterdam in When We Flew Away. What holds it together is her subject: women who survive things they were not supposed to survive.
The Witches of Cambridge takes her to Radcliffe in the McCarthy years, the city she has lived and worked in for most of her life. We are having dinner with her a few streets from the setting, five weeks after the book comes out.
